Attorney, Authorities Battle Over Aaron Hernandez's Brain

It was shocking to learn on Wednesday morning that former National Football League star Aaron Hernandez committed suicide while in prison - and a new report reveals even more chilling details pertaining to the incident. It offers a full range of "educational, vocational and substance abuse programming", the website states.

New details surrounding Hernandez's death continue to surface amid two separate investigations.

Baez said the family made arrangements for the Boston University CTE Unit to take possession of the brain, and the medical examiner's office agreed to those plans.

Mr. Hernandez was serving a life sentence after being convicted of first-degree murder in 2015 in the 2013 shooting death of Odin Lloyd in North Attleboro.

Reporters tried to get Baez to discuss other topics, but he was focused on the topic of Hernandez's remains.

Aaron Hernandez's death has officially been ruled a suicide, according to a statement on Thursday from the Worcester County District Attorney's Office. The medical examiner's office wanted to prepare the brain for study and initially declined to turn it over to Boston University, according to Reuters.

Aaron Hernandez's fiancée is heading back to court Friday.

Aaron Hernandez was arrested on June 26th 2013

Hernandez was cleared last week of the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were shot dead outside a Boston nightclub in 2012.

But this week, according to a lawyer for the Hernandez family, the MA medical examiner's office briefly refused to hand Hernandez's brain over to researchers.

"Mr. Hernandez [hanged] himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window".

The couple had a 4-year-old daughter together.

Hernandez's body was released to the Faggas Funeral Home in Watertown, Massachusetts, after an autopsy. She says the body will be shipped to another location, but she declined to say where.

Corrections department spokesman Christopher Fallon reportedly said there was no suicide note found in Hernandez's cell, according to the Boston Globe, and he had not been on suicide watch at the prison.

In any case, now that the cause and manner of death have been determined, Aaron - like many former National Football League stars - will be studied. His death came on the same day the Patriots visited the White House to mark their Super Bowl 51 comeback victory over Atlanta. Prosecutors suggested Lloyd may have been killed to keep him quiet about the 2012 Boston killings.
