Google Home's assistant can now recognize different voices

The Web giant today started rolling out a highly requested feature for its voice-powered speaker: support for multiple accounts. For an assistant such as Siri, which lives on devices used by just one person, multi-account support isn't as important.

The feature rollout comes to the USA first and will expand to the U.K.in coming months, Google says.

The first step in linking multiple accounts to one virtual assistant is opening up the card in the app that says "multi-user is available". In a statement to The Washington Post, Google assured that these new preferences would prevent someone else from ordering toys on your Google Assistant account because, naturally, "Only you would be able to shop via Google Home". You must say the phrases "Hey, Google" and "OK, Google" twice each. Just make sure you've got the latest version of the Google Home app, as that's required to set it up.

CNN reports that "As of Thursday the square, cylindrical device will now recognize partners, roommates, kids and guests who come to visit. now supports multiple accounts". Googles voice-activated assistant can now recognize whos talking to it on the Googles Home speaker. Open the app, then select the card that reads "multi-user is available". "This comparison takes place only in your device, in a matter of milliseconds", Google explains, to clear up any worries you may have about security or speed. Also, Google Home users can now create up to six different accounts on their devices. So, when you ask Google Assistant for help going forward, it'll be able to distinguish your voice from your son's or husband's or daughter's or roommate's and switch to the right account. Every time someone activates Google Home, a neural network (in other words, a type of software that gets better over time) will perform an analysis that compares the voice input to those initial setup recordings. Google Home will recognize each user's voice, and deliver customized results accordingly. Google Home can also order items from more than 50 retailers across the United States by voice and set flight tracking alerts.
