One wounded in West Bank vehicle ramming attack

A Palestinian assailant today rammed his vehicle into a West Bank bus stop, wounding an Israeli man, before Israeli troops shot and killed the driver, the military said.

The wounded civilian was taken for medical treatment, the army said.

According to Ma'an documentation, Mashahra is the 19th Palestinian to have been killed by Israelis since the beginning of the year.

Medics from the Magen David Adom ambulance service treated the injured Israeli man, who suffered a head wound after being hit by the auto as it plowed into a bus.

Several car-ramming attacks have occurred at that junction in the past year and a half.

David Gavriel, a surgeon at Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek hospital, said the man in his 20's had suffered multiple wounds including gunshot wounds to the head.

The attack came days after a Palestinian fatally stabbed British exchange student Hannah Bladon on Jerusalem's light rail.

Most of the Palestinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks, the Israeli authorities say.

The spate of Palestinian attacks that began in October 2015 was dubbed the "lone wolf" intifada, as numerous attacks were carried out by individuals who were not connected to any terror group.
