Prosecutors: Facebook assault victim was threatened with dog

The 14-year-old boy is accused of telling the victim she could "have sex the easy way or the hard way", according to the Associated Press.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 15-year-old boy, and several people are expected to face charges in the incident, police told reporters. But they have said that, besides the cellphone camera that recorded the incident and streamed it live on Facebook, others at the scene also recorded the sexual assault. "But this is worse for the young woman", Gardner said. The 15-year-old girl went missing on March 19. But "they didn't stop there. They put them up on Facebook for the world to see".

"This isn't a case where someone was murdered, or a life lost".

Assistant public defender Liliana Dago said prosecutors hadn't proven probable cause for the 15-year-old, particularly on the child pornography charge.

According to Gardner, the suspects taken into custody are a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old. The 15-year-old was lured in house's basement where she was assaulted by the boy and his friend.

"The very nature that he's in the video. one can assume he was manufacturing child pornography", Mendoza said.

The 15-year-old boy and his mother showed up at the Ogden District police station on the city's West Side so the teen could turn himself in, The Chicago Tribune reported. Approximately forty people watched the video, but no one notified the police about the alleged crime, authorities said.

"They've humiliated themselves, humiliated their families, and now they're going to be held accountable for what they did", Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said.

The investigation is ongoing, Johnson said.

Deenihan declined to say if either of the teens who are already facing charges streamed the live video.

The girl had stayed over with family the evening of March 18 and gone to church with them the next day, then was dropped off near home before disappearing.

Tuesday's hearing also revealed additional details of the abuse inflicted on the teenage girl, who prosecutors said was slapped on the head multiple times and threatened with having a dog set on her if she tried to escape.

The girl's mother said in a brief interview Monday that her daughter remains at what police called the "safe place" and has not returned to school.
