Fox News' Guilfoyle up for White House press secretary job

If Guilfoyle takes the job, she would leave her current gig as a co-host of Fox News' "The Five".

In an interview with Bay Area News Group, Guilfoyle said the idea of her taking over the role has been "raised by a number of people" in the Trump administration.

"The New York Times mentioned Guilfoyle's name in this piece last week about how thankless a job it is to be Trump's surrogate, titled "'Looking Like a Liar or a Fool': "What It Means to Work for Trump", suggesting though that Spicer had spent "several hours" with Trump last week, implying he was still in the loop. Her son Ronan went to school with Trump's granddaughter Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his wife, Vanessa.

"He's getting beat up", Trump said of Spicer.

The Washington Post reported last week that Spicer had been among the bushes with his staff as reporters waited to question him about the firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey.

Patriotism isn't the only reason Guilfoyle seems to think she'd be great for the job, though, as she also told Mercury News that she has "a very good relationship" with Trump that is "straightforward and authentic", "very genuine", and "built on trust and integrity".

"I think it'd be a fascinating job", Guilfoyle said.

Guilfoyle herself has known the Trump family for more than 10 years after meeting at a charity event after she moved to NY in 2004.

Trump has also vowed to discontinue White House press briefings.

Guilfoyle, who joined Fox News in 2006, interviewed Trump multiple times on the cable news network during his 2016 campaign.

"Sean Spicer is a very nice man and a patriot", she said.

Kimberly Guilfoyle appears at the premier for "Fury" in New York City, Oct. 14, 2014.

Newsom declined to comment through a spokesperson.

If she was offered and took the job, Guilfoyle could expect a huge pay cut, and she'd have to uproot her life from NY to Washington.

"Only since you started working here", Trump, played by Alec Baldwin, said.

For his part, Spicer returned to the White House on Friday and ended his briefing by telling everyone, "I will see you Monday".

A Fox News spokeperson noted that Guilfoyle is a "valued member" of the channel's primetime lineup and is under a long-term contract.

PIRRO: Is he in the, in the - what do they say - is he in the woods?

Forgive me if I opt to speak the "language of English" and not the "language of D.C. and Capitol Hill", but has anyone thought of simply telling the president to stop cocking things up all the time?
