Overkill's The Walking Dead delayed to

Overkill's The Walking Dead was announced in 2014 with a 2016 release window.

Overkill's The Walking Dead has hit a bump in the road, as Starbreeze and Skybound Entertainment have announced that the game has been delayed.

"We, together with the development of OVERKILL's The Walking Dead chose to extend the production schedule so that the title will reach their full potential and pursue our original vision a step further".

The game has been delayed because the development team reportedly needs more time to work on the project and push its vision for the experience further.

The team will be holding a livestream on May 10 to discuss the development of the game and future plans for titles like Payday 2, System Shock 3, Psychonauts 2, and plenty of others.

According to allegations made by the CEO of Stabreeze, Bo Andersson Klint, the delay will be necessary in order for the game to achieve its full potential. A similar reason was given for the delay into 2017 previous year.

It's particularly frustrating for fans because of the sheer excitement that had surrounded the game upon its reveal.

OVERKILL's The Walking Dead was first unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Los Angeles, back in June 2015, and since then Starbreeze Studios has frequently showcased the title at numerous events. The publisher has pushed the game's launch date back a year, and it'll now make its PC, PS4, and Xbox One debut in the Summer/Fall of 2018.
