Trump, dogged by questions at home, makes first trip abroad

American country music star Toby Keith will perform in Riyadh on Saturday in a rare concert in the ultra-conservative kingdom, which coincides with US President Donald Trump's visit.

When President Trump heads to Saudi Arabia on Friday for his first trip overseas since taking office, it will be for much more than a run-of-the-mill state visit.

Donald Trump's traveling circus will be going on the road this weekend on a four-country tour starting with Saudi Arabia, one of the few places outside of the Rust Belt where he's still strangely popular. Alcohol is banned and unrelated men and women are segregated in public. "Saudis would be signing for making Dollars 200 billion of investment in the United States which would create a lot of jobs", said a senior administration official involved in planning of the major presidential trip.

No one has specified whether Keith's concert was meant to take place the same weekend that Trump was in Saudi Arabia, but a spokesperson for the White House recently said they didn't know anything about Keith's concert and that the singer would not be traveling with Trump, according to The Washington Post.

He also reportedly wrote Trump's inauguration speech.

"He is invited definitely because it is an Arab and Muslim country", Nugali said. They see great rule of law. And they see a role for U.S. investment in efforts to shift the Saudi economy from its dependence on oil.

Saudi Arabia has also pitched itself as a Muslim ally against Islamic State militants, and Trump's desire to moderate his stance on Islam was among the reasons he chose Riyadh as his first stop overseas as president, according to administration officials. Saudi entertainment website Lammt, which is advertising the event, says the free concert, which will also feature an Arabian lute player, is open to men only.
