Aisha Tyler leaving 'The Talk' after six seasons

On Thursday's episode of "The Talk", Aisha Tyler announced she was leaving the show!

Tyler came aboard in 2011 along with comedian Sheryl Underwood.

The co-host of six seasons explained to her fellow panelists and the studio audience that she'd simply become too busy to continue her seven-days-a-week commitment to "The Talk".

Tyler also directed her first feature film, "Axis", which has played at a number of festivals, and which she said was "something I've always dreamed of doing". The rest of the lineup is comprised of Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert and Sharon Osborne, who have all been there since the show debuted in October 2010.

Tyler told her co-hosts that 'the thing she's going to miss the most is all of the time they spend together while they're not on camera'.

After her surprising announcement, Aisha Tyler posted two poignant messages to social media. CBS executive Angelica McDaniel called Tyler's departure "a bittersweet moment" and praised "her signature wit, intelligence and openness. and we support her as she decides to focus more time on her passion for directing" and her cast role on "Criminal Minds", among other endeavors.

In one post, Aisha wrote that life is about change and sometimes it can be both painful and handsome. "Life is about change", she wrote. "Always.' She also added, '#squadgoalsforever" on the photo.

Welp, it was fun while it lasted, but Aisha Tyler is done at "The Talk".

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened", the tweet read. In her goodbye, she cited the recent successes of other female directors, including Ava DuVernay and "Wonder Woman's" Patty Jenkins.

The Talk airs on CBS weekdays at 2 p.m. ET.
