Authorities say escaped Georgia inmates caught in Tennessee

One of the two correctional officers killed in Georgia Tuesday morning during an inmate escape was the husband of an Olean native, according to the Olean Times Herald.

A Georgia sheriff says the reward is now $115,000 for information leading to arrests of two inmates who killed two guards and escaped from a prison bus. And added that he feels the level of importance is due to the fact that "the public is in grave danger". "These are seriously risky, vicious hoodlums that need to be apprehended".

They then stole a white Ford pickup truck and later hijacked a Honda Civic, which was discovered hidden in a wooded area on Wednesday.

Sills says they took some food and likely some clothes and left their prison uniforms behind.

"They're doing like most escapees do". He added, "We are looking for them anywhere they might be on planet Earth".

And they're urging people to take care.

The FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are all involved.

David LeValley, special agent in charge of the FBI's Atlanta division, said the public's help is crucial.

"They were inside the caged area of the bus", he said. Department of Corrections Commissioner Greg Dozier wouldn't comment on that part of the investigation either. And he praised the other inmates for aiding the initial search.

"They walked almost nine miles and actually walked in the creek bed", Sills said. "They provided the most vital information at the most crucial time".

Immediately after the killings early Tuesday, the pair carjacked a driver who happened to pull up behind the bus on a rural highway.

The next sign that Rowe and Dubose were still in the area was when a woman came home around 10 a.m. Tuesday to find her house had been burglarized; the house was about two miles from the shootings.

Tracking dogs were initially on the trail, but it grew cold.

Authorities say they have captured two escaped inmates wanted in the slayings of two Georgia prison guards.

Deal has vowed to organize every state resource necessary to capture two inmates from custody.

"They will be followed up on", said Sills.

He warned that anyone who might be helping the escapees elude authorities could be charged as a party to their crimes.

Rowe was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for multiple armed robberies; Dubose was serving 20 years for armed robbery and aggravated assault. According to WXIA, authorities tracked the men down after they stole a Jeep and some guns from a couple who were found tied up in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
