Cosby judge declares mistrial as jury deadlocks again

Cosby judge declares mistrial as jury deadlocks again

The comedian and actor was accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former sports director at Temple University, in her home in Philadelphia in 2004. He still faces several civil lawsuits from at least 10 accusers.

"We are confident that these proceedings have given a voice to the many victims who felt powerless and silenced", the statement reads.

"He walked out but the bars were all around him", she said. In it, she described the district attorney as "heinously and exploitively ambitious", the judge as "overtly and arrogantly collaborating with the district attorney", the counsels for the accusers as "totally unethical", and many media outlets as "blatantly vicious entities that continually disseminated intentional omissions of truths for the primary objective of greedily selling sensationalism at the expense of a human life".

Throughout the dozens of sexual assault accusations Bill Cosby has faced over the years, Camille Cosby has remained steadfast in support of her husband. This was the only case to result in criminal charges against Cosby. Steele said ultimately a juror would need to "put aside whatever they know and then evaluate the case based on what they hear in the trial".

Linda Kirkpatrick, one of the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault, told CNN shortly after the mistrial the entire ordeal had forced those accusing the star to relive a terrible time in their lives.

The news came early for those on the West coast, but reactions began coming in soon after the mistrial announcement. She said she plans to appeal the decision.

"The defamation case is this clever way of saying, If I say you raped me and you say it didn't happen, then you're defaming me by calling me a liar", he said.

Bill Cosby's lawyer repeatedly demanded a mistrial in his sex assault trial as five days of deliberations on the fate of the man once known as America's Dad pushed into Father's Day weekend, but the judge said there was no precedent to shut down the jury's talks.

"Now that there's going to be a new trial, I'm hoping that the court will allow more prior bad act witnesses, more accusers, to be able to testify so that the jury can take into consideration what their allegations are as well", Allred said. They tried for six days before telling a judge that an unanimous decision was not possible. They repeatedly asked a judge for a mistrial on Friday.

There seems little doubt all this will be rehashed with prosecutors vowing to retry Cosby. Overtly arrogant, collaborating with the district attorney.

Constand is the only one of Cosby's accusers to have her day in criminal court.

Constand alleges she then became incapacitated and was led to a couch, where Cosby is alleged to have fondled her breasts, put his hands inside her trousers, and penetrated her vagina with his fingers.

After the mistrial announcement was made, Cosby's spokesperson Andrew Wyatt told a crowd outside the courthouse that Cosby's "power is back". Some of the other women have pursued civil cases or out-of-court settlements, but the vast majority can not pursue criminal charges because of a statute of limitations for sexual assault and rape cases.
