Flood warning until noon for northern McLean County

A flash flood watch is in effect for parts of the NY area for Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Met Service says shower activities associated with the area of low pressure are showing signs of organisation and warns that gradual development is expected to continue as the system moves slowly northwestward.

Severe Weather Risks. Large hail and strong straight-line wind would be the main modes of concern, given strong wind energy aloft and resulting broad-scale shear.

According to the NWS, a very moist airmass is moving into Western New York that will produce the thunderstorms.

A flash flood warning is in effect for Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Berkshire, Worcester and Middlesex County through late Monday. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued later, it means such flooding is imminent or already occurring.

Flash flood watch in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.

A tree reportedly fell on a home on West King Street in Ephrata around 2:30 p.m., according to dispatch reports from Lancaster County-wide Communications.

Satellite imagery and Radar reports indicated that light to moderate showers and at times heavy showers affected most parishes since this morning, with the heaviest showers detected across Portland, St.Mary, Hanover, Manchester and Clarendon.

Unsafe lightning also is expected, the service said, and tornadoes are a possibility.

Along the Shore, it'll be a bit cooler - in the low 80s on Monday. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. "This is especially if torrential rain sets up across the Hartford/Springfield Metro areas during the evening rush hour".

A strong front is approaching later in the afternoon, and as it makes its way into the area, storms will fire.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 85 degrees.
