Texas police seize 600 pounds of meth-laced lollipops

Police found close to $1 million worth of meth lollipops in a Houston-area home Tuesday while responding to a possible burglary, reports the Dallas News. Diaz asked reporters. "We found the amount of drugs seized from this house was almost a million dollars in street value".

The sheriff's office says the drugs were made in the home.

They also said the arrests and seizure happened nearby to a school, and fear the drugs are targeted at children, reported Click Houston.

Harris County detectives arrested Evonne Mick and David Salinas Monday after they allegedly tried to take the drugs from the home.

The Harris County Sheriff's office posted photos of the lollipops on Facebook, warning residents that they may have been meant to target children or young people.

The suspects, Evonne Mick and David Salinas, "put so many narcotics inside the vehicle they were trying to flee in, they couldn't even close the back hatch", said Lt. Ruben Diaz at a press conference. Some of the drug-laced lollipops were found to be in the shape of "Star Wars" and "Batman" emblems.

Each lollipop could be sold from $20 to $40, depending on the size.

Diaz said the design of the lollipops had raised concerns that the drug is being marketed to children.

"What if one of these lollipops were dropped in a neighborhood and a child picked it up?"

Police believe Mick and Salinas meant to distribute the drugs to juveniles, according to the Houston Chronicle, and emphasized the danger to the community the lollipops represented.
