VP Mike Pence speaks at security conference at FIU in Miami

The president hired his own private attorney, Marc E. Kasowitz, last month; yesterday, the Daily Dot reported via the Post that special counselor Robert Mueller will widen his investigation to determine whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", Kasowitz's spokesman Mark Corallo said to the Post. Many expect Trump to roll back several policies and actions from former President Barack Obama done in an effort to help thaw relations between the two nations.

According to his McGuireWoods bio page, Cullen is "frequently called on to conduct confidential internal investigations to assist corporations in assessing the risk of criminal prosecution or regulatory enforcement".

An aide tells NPR the decision to hire an outside lawyer has been under consideration for weeks, and Pence chose to go forward with it earlier this week. Paul Trible, R-Va., during the Iran-Contra investigation, worked for former Rep. Caldwell Butler, R-Va., during the Watergate investigation, was lead counsel to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay during the investigation into his ties with lobbyist Jack Abramoff and was on President George W. Bush's legal team during the Florida recount in the 2000 presidential election.

The visit from Pence comes one day before President Donald Trump will arrive in Miami, where he is expected to make a major announcement regarding the US and Cuba.

"At the President's direction, I'll be traveling to Central and South America later this year, to continue to build on the good work that is being done at this conference", Pence said". At the time, Pence - along with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, senior adviser Jared Kushner, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Counsel Donald McGahn - was one of the small group of senior advisers the president consulted as he mulled his decision.

Scrutiny of the president's actions has intensified since he fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey last month.

Regional presidents will also be in attendance.
