Wife: Man who shot congressman wanted to work on tax policy

A list of Republican names was found on the body of the gunman who opened fire on congressmen and staffers at a baseball field in Virginia. And House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was still in critical condition Friday night. He told her he was going to Washington DC to "change the tax brackets" and "work on taxes", she said.

Shortly after Tasha returned home with her son, Eli, Hodgkinson "just left" and went to Alexandria, Virginia where he lived in a van for two months before embarking on his manic shootout, Knepper said.

Also not mentioned: The Daily Beast reported that, when she heard the news of Hodgkinson's alleged attack on June 14, Moreland said: "It sounds really very bad, but I'm not surprised". With the chief deputy of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department by her side, she said she felt "horrible" about the actions of her husband of almost 30 years. "I'm glad they took care that he didn't get to do it again", Schaumleffel said. "There's nothing I could do about it", she said, adding that she felt "horrible, horrible". "There's nothing I could do about it". And she suggested that maybe he wanted a break from living with their - her daughter's child who was living with them in their home. The shooter was an IL man, James Hodgkinson, who had lashed out against President Donald Trump and Republicans over social media. Vice President Mike Pence earlier on Thursday said he visited MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where Scalise was being treated.

Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) walked back comments blaming Democratic rhetoric for partly inspiring a shooting at a Republican Congressional baseball practice.

A cell phone, a camera and a computer were recovered from Hodgkinson's vehicle, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.

Among others, Republican Representative Steve King wrote on Twitter that "violence is incited by the leading cultural voices of the Left" and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich cited an "increasing hostility on the left". In a statement released Thursday morning, his family said Mika was shot in the chest and arm and suffered massive trauma, the Detroit News reports.

Also wounded in the attack were Congressional staffer Zachary Barth, Tyson Foods' Director of Government Relations Matt Mika, and Capitol Police Officer Crystal Griner. Bost said that the Capitol was shaken after the shooting.

"I just don't know what to tell you people".

Flake said two members of Scalise's security detail were wounded, and another man was wounded in the chest.
