Bridal retailer Alfred Angelo abruptly closes all stores

"The wedding is in three weeks and half the bridesmaids don't have their dresses".

Rumors have been buzzing on social media for at least the past few days around the closing of the stores, many taking to Twitter and Facebook with their frustration.

After 80 years, bridal store Alfred Angelo has closed its doors nationwide.

The Alfred Angelo Bridal store at 5037 South Cleveland Ave., along with hundreds of others, suddenly closed its doors for good Thursday to the surprise of bridal parties.

Channel 9's Julie Salomone spoke to many brides who stopped by the store looking for answers.

This is something that is happening across the US - from East to West - including at a store in California. "It was stressful thinking about what if they close", she said.

A young couple at the door of the bridal shop just before 8 p.m., the store's normal closing time, seemed satisfied when they appeared to receive their purchase.

This mother of the bride calls herself a lucky one, she was able to pick up their order.

"It's heartbreaking, very heartbreaking for every bride that's walking in there right now", said Rosa Dearing, whose eldest daughter, Crystal, was missing her dress.

A spokesperson said: 'As a team we have unfortunately found out this devastating news with no prior notice and are just as shocked and saddened as I know you all are too.

Per the Palm Beach Post, employees at Alfred Angelo's corporate office in Delray Beach were seen vacating the building in droves on Thursday carrying boxes of personal belongings.

But a hand-written, unsigned note taped to the outside of the window said this: "Based on what I have found out, any dress in their possession will be shipped to the address on file. They didn't answer, they didn't have any information", Hyi Lim said. "It was like my dream dress", said Connie Filintarakis of Newington who was in tears outside the bridal shop on Pleasant Valley Road.

Bridal stores around the nation like R.K. Bridal have offered discounts and other assistance those affected by the dress maker's shutdown.

Holly Fudge, a Kettering resident, said she has two friends who bought dresses from the store.

Alfred Angelo Bridal has a sign in their window advertising "fairy tale weddings".
