Details of deal that's bringing Foxconn to Wisconsin

The firm will invest $10 billion in Wisconsin to build a new manufacturing plant that produces LCD panels.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday a $10 billion electronics manufacturing plant slated for Wisconsin proved corporate leaders "understand that America's capabilities are limitless and that America's workers are the best and that America's most prosperous days are just ahead".

"This is a culmination of many months of discussion between the White House Office of American Innovation and Foxconn", the official said.

Trump touted his "Buy American" philosophy as the reason Gou chose to make such a large investment in the U.S. Trump campaigned on a promise to bring back manufacturing jobs that American companies sent offshore.

Our sister station 27 News is working to confirm a Wall Street Journal report that tech manufacturer Foxconn will choose a Wisconsin site for its expansion into the U.S.

The president stated the the construction "represents the return of electronic manufacturing to the United States".

The Wisconsin plant will not be Foxconn's last. Trump also said Tuesday in a Wall Street Journal interview that Apple CEO Tim Cook "promised" him the company plans to build "three big plants, handsome plants" in the United States. "In other words, if I didn't get elected, he definitely would not be spending $10 billion".

Apple declined to comment on Trump's remarks, where or when the plants are planned for, as well as whether the Foxconn announcement is related to Apple. Labor advocates say the company imposes excessive overtime and pressure on workers, especially when it ramps up production ahead of new iPhone launches. So too did White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, a Kenosha native who said he talked up the potential of southeast Wisconsin to Trump for the plant.

"Foxconn will make screens used for automobiles, health-care and other electronic devices", Governor Walker said, adding that the company would also receive $3bn in tax breaks including state, local, and federal subsidies. The incentives would only be awarded if Foxconn creates the jobs and pays an average salary of almost $54,000. Almost seven months after the president declared victory and assured Carrier employees their jobs were safe, we've learned hundreds will soon be laid off.
