IPhone 8 Rumor: Apple Still Struggling WIth Wireless Charging, 3D Sensor Software

A new report claims that Apple engineers and designers are having trouble fixing software issues with the the newest iPhone. Instead of the entire phone being delayed, it seems that maybe some features could be disabled at launch.

The company has been working feverishly to fix software problems in its hotly anticipated 10th-anniversary iPhone that could ultimately cause production and delivery delays, the source says.

It is claimed that Apple is struggling with the new iPhone's wireless charging feature and a new 3D sensor created to unlock the handset with a glance of the owner's face.

Employees at Foxconn recently confirmed that the iPhone 8 would keep the Lightning connector rather than the reported USB C, as well as feature wireless charging. Apple could simply have it activated at a later time through a software update. The report even suggests Apple may rely on the 3D sensor for authentication in lieu of the familiar Touch ID fingerprint scanner.

In particular, the analysts said there have been issues with new fingerprint-recognition features and 3D facial recognition technology. The issue with some of these features rests with software, meaning the company could ship the phone with necessary hardware and enable the software side at a later date once it's ready.

The source believes Apple will likely have the 3D software working in time.

David and Tom just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy right now. and Apple wasn't one of them! However, there is now limited manufacturing capacity for OLED display panels. Apple is rumored to be prepping up to four million iPhone 8 units that will be on hand at launch, and supply constraints may extend well beyond Christmas.

We're also expecting this year's flagship to be the most expensive smartphone ever made by Apple, likely to exceed the $1,000 mark.

As for the location of the Touch ID fingerprint reader, which some claim will be missing from the new phone, the Fast Company source says that "in all likelihood" it will be embedded under the display.

"Sales went well for Apple due to a number of advantages that will not repeat including a bigger screen and the addition of China Mobile as a new carrier".

Screen technology is also expected to get a refresh, with Apple moving towards OLED (organic light emitting diode) glass.
