KFC and Huawei Made a Phone (No, Seriously)

KFC and Huawei Made a Phone (No, Seriously)

Naturally, the key factor here is the whole "KFC phone" thing.

As AdAge, KFC was among the first Western brands to arrive in China, and the inaugural year of 1987 is emblazoned alongside the image of the Colonel on the back of the handset. Both brands have witnessed the rise of China in these 30 years, and both embody the spirit of the times.

Everything on KFC Ltd.is produced in limited-edition quantities.

The phone is priced at 1,099 yuan (about $162), and Huawei and KFC will only release 5,000 devices, so get it while it's hot! There are around 4,000 KFC restaurants in the country.

Kentucky Fried Chicken celebrated its 30th anniversary of operations in China by unveiling a limited edition smartphone it had collaborated on with Chinese smartphone maker Huawei.

Shenzhen telecommunications company Huawei was also founded in 1987.

Not only do the Chinese love KFC's food, but they also love their smartphones, which is probably where the marketing idea for the Huawei KFC phone came from. With it, you can create and share playlists at KFC restaurants.

We do not yet know whether the new phone is, in fact, a previous model launched by Huawei, or whether the hardware will be made especially for this anniversary edition. It will be available from Alibaba's TMall in China and will sport a 5in display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (with a microSD card slot), a fingerprint scanner, a 3020mAh battery and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 425 processor.

It comes pre-loaded with KFC's K-music app, which lets you choose the songs you want to hear in the KFC store of your choice, sort of like a portable jukebox.
