"Despacito" Becomes Most Viewed Video In YouTube History, Without The Biebs

It was less than a month when Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's song "See You Again" overtook Psy's "Gangnam Style" as Most Watched Video on YouTube.

"Despacito" is the most "liked" video in YouTube history. It only took 7 months to reach the historic number, that means it has been watched almost 15 million times every day, or 170 times per second.

In an Instagram video, Daddy Yankee gave his reaction to the song's success on YouTube: "I recognise the influence that the platform has".

Perhaps we should start placing bets on when the video will surpass 4 billion views?

Here are the other records the song broke: most views in 24 hours by a Spanish-language music video, the fastest Spanish-language video to earn 200 million views and the fastest music video ever to reach 2 billion views.

Bow down, YouTube - 'Despacito' is your new king.

This also adds to Daddy Yankee's own records as an artist. The music industry has changed.

The Bieber version has logged 12 weeks at number one on the United States singles chart, the first Spanish-language song to reach the top spot since "Macarena" in 1996 and matching the 12-week reign earlier this year of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You". The "See You Again" music video hit YouTube in April 2015.
