Inter try to end Man United's Ivan Perisic hopes

Manchester United must sign a top quality attacking midfielder before the start of the new Premier League campaign and reports suggest that Perisic is expected to join the Red Devils.

Mourinho was hoping to add Perisic to his other incomings this summer, with Romelu Lukaku (£72million), Nemanja Matic (£38million) and Victor Lindelof (£30million) already arriving at Old Trafford.

A deal was close to being agreed between United and Inter for a player who fits the classical Mourinho style.

Yesterday, we covered a report (via Leggo) claiming that the Old Trafford club are ready to pay 55 million euros to hire the services of the Croatian worldwide.

Candreva is being heavily linked with a £22million move to Chelsea, while United have been tipped to launch a £48m bid for fellow winger Perisic. "He has never been put on the market, nor have we ever thought about letting him go".

Mourinho has publicly criticised the failure to sign players, regularly putting pressure on executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward who is tasked with leading United's negotiations in the transfer market. We are talking with them but eventually he could remain at Inter.

United are also looking to further strengthen their options at the back and the Independent claim a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Serge Aurier could be done if the price is right.

So it looks like it could still be a busy final few weeks of the summer window for United as Mourinho tries to put together a squad capable of competing on all fronts this season.

The Inter player has been in sparkling form to continue his impressive form of last season.
