Pochettino To Make 3 Key Changes: Predicted Tottenham XI vs Borussia Dortmund

Pochettino To Make 3 Key Changes: Predicted Tottenham XI vs Borussia Dortmund

Spurs begin their European campaign on Wednesday night with a home match against Borussia Dortmund.

Pochettino, whose Tottenham side crashed out of the competition at the group stage in 2016-17, also believes that an obsession with winning the Premier League is to blame for holding English teams back.

"It's like a final", Pochettino, the Tottenham manager, said.

Real are favourites to finish first - and also win the competition for a third consecutive season - while APOEL are expected to be bottom, leaving Spurs and Dortmund to battle for second place.

"We know very well what the competition demands from you, and we need to be ready to compete at a higher level".

"It will be tough because Dortmund are a great team, but in our minds, our mentality is to win and be aggressive from the start".

Spurs failed to progress into the knockout round last season having lost twice at Wembley, their temporary home ground.

The VAR is being trialled in Germany this season and this was the first time an intervention led to a player being sent off. The Premier League is the principal competition for every player that plays in the Premier League.

Tottenham have struggled at Wembley in recent years even when they aren't playing European games.

"We've got to play our game".

Dele Alli will be missing for the hosts as he continues to serve his three-match ban in Europe.

He said: "Last year we got off to a bad start, which didn't help us".

"I saw Spurs' win over Everton at the weekend and he was fantastic in midfield, creating chances and dictating play. When you are here, the players want to fight to try to win it", Pochettino said.

"It's going to be a huge challenge, but I see ourselves as being on the same level as Tottenham", said Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.
