'Shouting Allah': Soldier Attacked by Knife-Wielding Assailant in Paris

Just last month on August 9th, Hamou Bachir attacked six soldiers on the streets of Paris by ramming them with his auto before being apprehended and arrested. The individual was not known to the police, the source added.

The attack took place at around 6 a.m. local time at Ch√Ętelet, one of the city's main subway stations, said a spokeswoman for the police.

A man has been arrested after trying to stab a soldier on patrol in the French capital this morning. Anti-terrorist prosecutors have been put in charge of the inquiry.

France declared a state of emergency following attacks in Paris in November 2015, in which more than 130 people were killed.

The suspect apparently shouted references to the Islamic State group while attacking the soldier, Reuters reported, citing French media.

The French government had launched an operation called Sentinelle following the 2015 attack, where it deployed almost 7,000 troops across the country o guard high-risk areas such as tourist sites and religious buildings.

The soldier involved was with the Sentinelle force assigned to protect prominent sites after deadly Islamic extremist attacks in recent years.

"It is the proof of the professionalism and efficiency of the soldiers of Sentinel in this protection mission". Also in August, seven soldiers were left seriously injured when a BMW drove into them deliberately.

Two women were injured on Friday by an attacker wielding a hammer and shouting Allahu Akbar in the eastern French town of Chalon-sur-Saone in Burgundy, local officials said.
