The GOP's latest Obamacare repeal bill is dead

The GOP's latest Obamacare repeal bill is dead

Health care might be a political game to some Senators in DC, but it's a life-or-death issue to our constituents. "You can't fix anything [without that]".

The Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill, if implemented, could lead to $240 billion in lost economic activity by 2027 and impact 580,000 jobs, the report indicated, CNBC reported. Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana, one of the co-authors of the bill, at a press conference following a closed-door Senate GOP Conference lunch.

"We have never felt better about the idea that we can now - as a party - not only repeal, but replace Obamacare with an idea that will pay off for the American health care consumer". "Now was the reform easy?"

What does Trump say about all this? "And I guess we can go to work with the Senate having a priority on regular order".

"With one Yes vote in hospital & very positive signs from Alaska and two others (McCain is out), we have the HCare Vote, but not for Friday!" the President tweeted, before adding: "We will have the votes for Healthcare but not for the reconciliation deadline of Friday, after which we need 60". That leaves the GOP incapable of securing even a simple majority on the proposal.

Republicans wasted little time getting their Affordable Care Act repeal off the ground this year, but the party hasn't been able to agree on a plan that would appeal to both centrists and conservatives in the House and Senate.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday announced he is pulling the Republican health care bill.

In contrast to Collin's statement about pre-existing conditions, Trump tweeted on September 20, "I would not sign Graham-Cassidy if it did not include coverage of pre-existing conditions".

"The most frequent frustration we heard from our colleagues ranging from Senator McCain to Senator Murkowski was that time and process were the biggest obstacles to their support". She became the third Republican to announce a no vote, joining Sens.

"It took 18 months to pass Obamacare", Graham said. The move came as a major setback to Trump who spent the past week trying to rally support for an attempt to fulfil a seven-year-old Republican promise, the Washington Post reported. Representative Richard Neal (D-MA) said the president made it clear "he was going to work with Democrats on a plan" if his healthcare interests weren't met, according to CNN.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), praising the "Little Lobbyist" children with pre-existing conditions that pressed lawmakers to oppose Graham-Cassidy, declared that "Republicans must abandon Trumpcare and join us for constructive, bipartisan talks to improve and update the Affordable Care Act". He expressed disappointment in "so-called Republicans" who swayed the vote from majority rule. The group said truer repeal would eliminate the regulations and let states re-enact them if they chose.
