3-year-old boy left alone in corn maze overnight

According to staff at the Crazy Corn Maze, the boy was emotional, but finally calmed down when a West Jordan officer put a movie on her laptop for the child, reports CBS affiliate KUTV.

'The fact that it took so long for them to realize the child was missing - was it purely an accident? "He could say his brother's name and his cat's name, but not his own name".

West Jordan Police said a corn maze employee found the child at about 8 p.m. Monday night and turned over the child to an officer.

The boy was placed into custody of the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) for the night. The next morning, a woman called the police at about 7:45 a.m. and said she couldn't find her little boy.

Monson says she later arrived at the police station with about 10 children.

The maze informed guests that they had a missing child, but nobody came to claim the boy by the time the maze had closed.

Authorities would not confirm whether the child has been returned to the mother.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that police have told them the living situation was "A case of multiple families with multiple children living in the same home".

There have been no charges in association with Monday's incident.
