Las Vegas shooter booked rooms near Lollapalooza

That's the date the music festival ended.

The gunman who holed up in a room on the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel on Sunday before raining bullets on revelers gathered for a country music festival across the street had booked hotel rooms near the Lollapalooza music festival two months earlier, according to multiple reports.

Paddock rained bullets down on festivalgoers from a nearby hotel building, killing 58 and injuring hundreds more.

The Chicago Police Department says it is aware of the reports of a Stephen Paddock booking a room at the hotel, and the department has been in communication with federal agencies.

An official told ABC News on Tuesday night that Stephen Paddock was looking into getting a room at The Ogden, which is a luxury high-rise building near the Life is attractive festival grounds, in Downtown Las Vegas.

Lombardo told a press conference "anything that would indicate this individual's trigger point and that would cause him to do such harm, we haven't understood it yet".

Sunday's shooting happened along the Las Vegas Strip, an area brimming with hotels and casinos located in unincorporated Clark County, just south of the Las Vegas city limits.

Paddock wired $100,000 to the Philippines days before the shooting, said a US official who was not authorized to speak publicly because of the continuing investigation, according to the Associated Press. "They train all year", Emanuel said. "We don't know yet".

Discerning Paddock's motive has proven especially baffling as he had no criminal record, no known history of mental illness and no outward signs of social disaffection, political discontent or extremist ideology, police said.

Ms Danley, who returned to the USA late Tuesday from a family visit to the Philippines, is regarded by investigators as a "person of interest".
