MSNBC's Brzezinski: 'I can't go forward' with book deal unless Weinstein resigns

The HuffPo article alleges that the incident occurred ten years ago, when Sivan was a news anchor on a NY local cable channel.

"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski says she'd rather turn the page than write a book for accused serial sexual harasser Harvey Weinstein.

At that point, Sivan claims that Weinstein exposed himself and began masturbating.

Once they left, Sivan says Weinstein leaned in and tried to kiss her. Sivan rejected that attempt and told him she had a long-term boyfriend.

Scary, disgusting, bad stuff from a very powerful Hollywood producer. She was also trapped between Weinstein and the exit.

Once they got to the restaurant's kitchen, Weinstein sent away a few employees who were cleaning up.

The former TV journalist said she remained silent over the years out of fear of retaliation due to Weinstein's clout in the media industry. The group then made their way to a Cuban-theme club and restaurant when Weinstein offered to take her on a private tour of the club's then-closed kitchen. Sivan says Weinstein ejaculated quickly into a potted plant that was in the vestibule and then proceeded to zip up his trousers and they walked back into the kitchen.

The allegations come in the wake of an explosive New York Times report on what they say is Weinstein's storied career of sexual abuse and assault of women close to him.

According to Sivan, the incident occurred at a Manhattan nightclub called Socialista, connected to the well-known Italian restaurant Cipriani in 2007.

Weinstein and his brother Bob co-founded the indie film company Miramax in the late 1970s and grew into a powerhouse brand that made art-house films mainstream - and reshaped the Academy Awards race with aggressive marketing and buzz. The company was bought by Disney in 1993, where the brothers continued to run the company - and dominate the Oscar race - until they left in 2005 to launch the new privately held The Weinstein Company. He is now serving as producer on "The Current War", which is viewed as a solid contender for awards.

There may have been a taste for vengeance in the brother's fateful move, as another insider said, "Bob wanted Harvey to get what's coming to him". "However, Mr. Weinstein denies many of them and was not given a fair opportunity to present evidence and witnesses on his side".

According to the Times story, Weinstein has reached at least eight legal settlements with women over allegations of sexual harassment, with his accusers including actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan.

Remaining board members hired an outside law firm to investigate the allegations and said Weinstein would take an indefinite leave of absence.
