Sylvester Stallone Is Directing Michael B. Jordan in Creed 2

Creed was directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he co-wrote with Aaron Covington as a spinoff and sequel to the Rocky film series. He has quite a number of directorial credits including four films from the Rocky franchise the last being 2006's "Rocky Balboa".

Known for playing cinema's most famous boxer, Sylvester Stallone announced yesterday that he would direct the next spin-off from the Rocky saga. In the caption he mentions that he will be both directing and producing the feature, but fails to mention whether or not he will be reprising his role as Rocky Balboa.

Stallone announced the Creed news with an understated Instagram post, sharing an old photo of himself and Jordan. The character wasn't exactly doing so well in the first Creed, having been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and going through chemotherapy, so it wouldn't necessarily be the most surprising thing in the world. Cor, as if we couldn't love him any more.

Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren, who infamously played Russian doper Ivan Drago, has already signed on to bring Apollo Creed's slayer back to life for the new project.

The film was slated for a 2017 release, however, Coogler and Jordan's commitments to "Black Panther" pushed it to a yet unannounced date.
