ABC President: Conor McGregor Assaulted Referee, Jeopardized Fighters' Health

In addition to Friday's encounter with Goddard in the cage, McGregor also struck a member of the athletic commission who was attempting to prevent McGregor from entering the cage a second time.

Bellator have since released a statement, which reads: "We're aware of the in-cage altercation involving Conor McGregor and a Bellator staff member".

Conor McGregor faces an anxious wait to discover the repercussions of an ugly flashpoint with a referee at the Bellator 187 event in Dublin last night.

As McGregor's entourage, which included the UFC lightweight Artem Lobov, piled into the cage, the pair were quickly separated.

During the main card, which took place at 3Arena in Dublin and aired via same-day delay on Spike, McGregor's SBG Ireland teammate Charlie Ward (4-3 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) earned a first-round TKO win over John Redmond (7-13 MMA, 0-1 BMMA). When Goddard tried to get him the fuck out of there, McGregor followed him and gave him a shove.

McGregor is now planning his return to UFC having not fought in MMA for a year.

It's never that simple with McGregor though as he got into a bit of argy-bargy with the referee, Marc Goddard.

"The MTDAR has been in consultation with the upper management of the UFC regarding Mr. McGregor's inappropriate and unacceptable behavior".

McGregor is certainly a special circumstance in this instance, not because he is the biggest star in all of combat sports, but more so because of his official capacity at the event.

MMA Junkie reports that McGregor was not an official cornerman for the bout, and security had reacted to McGregor's presence at ringside.
