Apple engineer 'fired' over early iPhone X leak

Apple engineer 'fired' over early iPhone X leak

An engineer with Apple was allegedly fired for viral video posted online by his daughter.

YouTube vlogger Brooke Amelia Peterson said in a new video on her channel that her father, iPhone engineer Ken Bauer, had been fired after she showcased the new iPhone X. The phone will be available November 3. Or it's possible he may have worked on radio frequency identification (RFID), a technology used to allow for the purchase of goods, such as a cup of coffee or a subway ticket, using your iPhone.

She said her father was sacked for breaking Apple's strict policy that bans filming on its campus.

Ms Peterson said Apple had asked for the "innocent" video to be taken down and said that its posting had led to her father being fired. Now, in a new note spotted by MacRumors, the KGI Securities analyst says Apple won't "repeat the mistake of supply disruption and delayed production as seen with the iPhone X".

Apple's new TrueDepth Camera enables features like Face ID for unlocking your iPhone X with facial recognition as well as Animoji for creating animated emoji characters with face tracking. iPhone X includes these features on the front-facing camera, but the rear-facing camera does not offer the same TrueDepth features. Although, the viral video was promptly deleted by Brooke on Apple's request, but it was a tad too late as it got copied and proliferated across YouTube by others. Apple prohibits unauthorized filming on its campus.

Unless it an elaborate publicity stunt, iPhone maker Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reportedly shown how hard it can be on careless employees. Peterson also posted a picture to Instagram of her and the new iPhone, which has also subsequently been removed. "If you break a rule, they just have no tolerance". "You know what guys?"

She also added that "My dad had a really great run at Apple and he appreciates that company for everything they did for his career ... my dad's gonna be OK, he's an incredible human being and, yeah, I don't think he deserves this but we're OK".
