IOS 11.1.1 Released, Bug Fixes + Features & Changes

According to the post on Reddit, the user states that it takes only a couple seconds for the screen to become unresponsive when going from a warmer to a colder climate.

"This will be addressed in an upcoming software update", it added.

Some iPhone X owners are reporting an unusual issue in which the phone's display becomes unresponsive or laggy when the handset is exposed to a cold environment. "I try swiping on websites and it doesn't register my finger", wrote the original poster. It's very noticeable. Is anyone else having this problem?' Some also came up with a possible explanation saying that the effect that light had on infrared camera and light sensor for FaceID authentication on the front may be the reason behind it.

The fix is coming in response to complaints that the screen doesn't detect touches when the device is in cold weather. Apple notes that "Low or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature". The support document does not mention screen freezing specifically, and based on Apple's response to the issue, it appears the iPhone X is suffering a different (albeit similar) kind of ailment. One user reported Face ID fails outside as well.

Of course, you might think it entirely nuts that Apple needs to ship a full iOS update to update such a simple issue, particularly when it's only just started shipping an upgrade that restores a working "i" key when typing out a message. But some Reddit users said they experienced an unresponsive screen well into that range.

To update your phone with the new software, you must first connect your device to a WiFi network. Most probably, the company will fix the issue in its iOS 11.2 update which rests in the beta phase at the moment.
