Should the NFL Extend Roger Goodell's Contract — TIMEOUT

Jones has taken issue with the discretionary bonuses, which appear as incentives but have been presented to Goodell as a near certainty without the knowledge of the other owners, according to ESPN. Jones said he disagrees with Blank's assertion that the compensation committee can complete the deal without another vote of all owners.

Jones called-out Blank during the week regarding NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension.

With the week's tension in mind, media members were watching Jones and Blank closely before the game. Now, some owners have considered the idea of the nuclear option: taking the Dallas Cowboys away from Jerry Jones.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly asked for a $49.5 million contract extension but Marc Ganis, president of Sportscorp and consultant to the league's 32 team owners, told FOX Business's "Varney & Co." the lavish demands, which were reported by ESPN, are untrue.

Goodell filed his last counterproposal around mid-August and requested $49.5million in pay - up from around $30million now - it has been reported. "These changing conditions must be weighed relative to the timing of the Commissioner's contract extension". The negotiations are progressing and we will keep ownership apprised of the negotiations as they move forward.

The NFL Competition Committee is meeting today to discuss extending the NFL boss's already lucrative contract. The league and Goodell have been working on a five-year deal to kick in when his current deal expires in 2019.

Some fans have said protests are disrespectful to the American flag and to the military, and have boycotted the NFL.

Jones has reportedly been unhappy with Goodell on several fronts, ranging from the six-game suspension for Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott over domestic violence allegations, to the league's unwillingness to force players to stand during the national anthem.

Jones said his relationship with Goodell, and issues related to his compensation, are deeper than his recent concern over the league's handling of Elliott's case.

I never thought I'd be on the side of Jerry Jones, but here I am.
