Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC Will Last a Full Year

The Nintendo Switch RPG Xenoblade Chronicles 2 arrives in just a bit over a month, and The Big N just released a mess of new details about the upcoming adventure. Those releases will be followed by a "new rare blade" and a challenge battle mode in spring and summer 2018, respectively, and finally, Nintendo promises a brand new story on tap for fall 2018. This Expansion Pass includes a lot more DLCs, which will drop periodically throughout 2018.

Curiously, the various content drops will not be available individually, meaning that players will have to pay the full price upfront, even if they only want access to one of the expansions. Outside of the grandeur of Monolith's latest Switch-exclusive adventure, the game is another key opportunity for Nintendo to flex the season pass model it's used on past Switch titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Available as a free update, the quest gives players the chance to unlock a Xenoblade costume for Link.

Nintendo wrapped up the Direct by revealing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available for pre-order now from major retailers as well as the Nintendo Switch eShop.

In addition to everything we'll be getting in the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 season pass, players of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be getting a special outfit for Link on November 9.

In and out of battle, Blades will have a wide array of support abilities.

Abilities will differ from Blade to Blade, so selecting different Blades during battles will add a strategy element to gameplay.

And the good news for Nintendo Switch owners doesn't stop there.

A Collector's Edition of the game will also be released the same day, that includes a 220-page art book, soundtrack CD, and a metal case.

While journeying through the game world, players will encounter both peaceful and aggressive wildlife.
