Big Ol' Scott Frost-Nebraska News Drops While He's Coaching UCF Game

Frost will officially be introduced at a 1 p.m. press conference Sunday afternoon.

Update: It was only a matter of time before Nebraska confirmed it had hired former quarterback Scott Frost as its new coach. The program's rise to an undefeated record follows an 0-12 mark in 2015. The former OR offensive coordinator initially signed on with UCF in the winter of 2015.

Inheriting a UCF team that went 0-12 in 2015, Frost got the Knights to six wins in 2016 and then turned in a ideal 12-0 regular season in 2017, capped off by an AAC championship.

NU athletic director Bill Moos said he's considering Frost for the job following the dismissal of Mike Riley, but also wants to respect Frost's duties with the Knights in the title game. "I truly believe that we have hired the premier young coach in the country and that exciting times lie ahead". He was the starting quarterback in 1996 and on the Huskers last national championship team in 1997. Milton's 3,301 passing yards, 429 rushing yards and 36 total touchdowns spark an offense that has three other rushers with at least 200 yards and three touchdowns, and six players with at least 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

The University fired former head coach Mike Riley on November 25 after three seasons. The turnaround from 0-12 to 12-0 in two years is the quickest of its kind in major college football history.

With a win in the conference championship game, the Knights are likely going to find themselves in one of the top bowl games this season. Frost said he was excited to return to his alma mater to coach in the press release. The state of Nebraska and the Husker program mean a great deal to me.
