During her acceptance speech, Gomez showed her appreciation for BFF Francia Raísa, her donor.

Selena accepted the award from Elle Fanning and Francia Raisa (her best friend, who donated her kidney to Selena to help save her life), saying, "To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award, because she saved my life", before getting emotional and teary, unable to go on. Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for the position that I've been given in my career, from seven to 14 to now.

"I feel incredibly lucky", Gomez said in her speech.

She told Billboard Online: 'I'm really honoured to do this for her tonight. "We are so close that we literally are the same kidney type".

"I've never felt as proud to be a women in the industry than I do today", Gomez said while adding how crucial it is that voices "are being heard for the fist time". In September, Gomez had a kidney transplant because of her battle with lupus.

SelGo was also asked how she feels about women in Hollywood coming forward about being sexually abused/harassed in the past. I was just glad I was able to do. She is now trying to accept who she is, and that's taken her about five years, a few stints in rehab and a lot of therapy. "I cherish people who have really impacted my life", Gomez said. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. "Seeing all these women come up here tonight and say these attractive speeches with their awards is so inspiring", she told the crowd, then paying tribute to those who have helped her get to that point. "I'm out there fighting for you".
