War with North Korea 'closer every day'

War with North Korea 'closer every day'

North Korea said the U.S. is "begging" for a nuclear war by planning the "largest-ever" joint aerial drill with South Korea just after concluding an exercise with nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.

This is the first time that the USA has deployed six F-22 at one time in the Korean peninsula, which serves as another warning to Pyongyang after the latter launched a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile - its most sophisticated missile to date - on Wednesday.

The drill, dubbed "Vigilant Ace", will take place from Monday to Friday, and feature F-22 stealth fighters and F-35 aircraft. The latest test was the highest and longest any North Korean missile had flown, landing in the sea near Japan.

Although North Korea has rejected accusations of such abuses, a 2014 United Nations report said North Korean security chiefs, possibly including the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, should face justice for overseeing a state-controlled system of Nazi-style atrocities.

The exercises come after last week's test-launch by North Korea of its most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) yet, though the US-South Korea drills had already been planned.

"I see no evidence of the investigation in any way impeding the important work that we are doing", McMaster told Fox News host Bret Baier at the Reagan National Defense Forum at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

The missile is said to have flown almost 2,800 miles high and for a distance of more than 600 miles.

North Korea, meanwhile, has been on a tear, undeterred by worldwide pressure.

"What matters is the fact that the drill simulating an actual war is to be staged at a time when insane President Trump is running wild", a commentary carried by the official Korean Central News Agency said.

A USA official said Saturday technical analysis of that missile's flight is ongoing but the "the North Koreans had problems with re-entry".

Western analysts said it is more likely the truck was one of about half a dozen vehicles obtained years ago from China, which North Korea has modified since then.

"The situation clearly proves that the U.S. and the South Korean puppet war maniacs are just aggressors and provocateurs breaking peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula".

North Korea has repeatedly rejected accusations of human rights abuses and blames sanctions for a dire humanitarian situation.
