Dark Souls Trilogy Box Set Confirmed for PS4

The Dark Souls Trilogy Box set releases in Japan on May 24, 2018, the same day as the remastered edition of the first title.

You can catch up on the Dark Souls announcement and all the latest Switch happenings by checking out today's Nintendo Direct Mini.

Dark Souls, an intricate and arcane work of dark fantasy pits players against a world of demonic creatures, is widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time.

From Software has also revealed a Dark Souls Trilogy box-set, set to be released on PlayStation 4 in May. A small press release also noted that this remaster will include the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, and offer online multiplayer for up to 6 players. A knight soon approaches the campfire and ignites it as the words "Dark Souls Remastered" come into view. The title is also headed for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC as well.

The trailer that coupled the announcement was simple enough, showing only a slow zoom-in on an extinguished fire.

Dark Souls Remastered will receive graphical enhancements across the board as well as the aim to hit 60 frames per second. If the portability and flexibility of the Switch is enabling some people to dive into hardcore games for the first time in years, then Dark Souls is probably still very new to those consumer.

Sure, 10 million worldwide sales have probably helped out in that regard, but it's clear those outside the Nintendo bubble feel different about the Switch. As of yet, we do not know how that will be split between cooperators and invaders. These ports are being handled by a separate company from the Switch port, and will feature rebuilt lighting and SFX based on Dark Souls 3, as well as upscaled textures.
