Man from Bengal arrested for threatening to kidnap Sachin Tendulkar's daughter

A 32-year-old man was arrested from West Bengal for allegedly harassing Sachin Tendulkar's 20-year-old daughter over phone, police said on Sunday.

A senior official of Mumbai Police told IBNS, "Days ago, Tendulkar family lodged a complaint at Bandra Police Station alleging that Sachin Tendulkar's office received anonymous phone calls more than 20 times where the caller had been continuously proposing Sachin's daughter for marriage". Debkumar Maity had made several calls to the woman and had threatened to kidnap her. Maity had referred to the cricketer as his "father-in-law", according to the Hindustan Times.

"We will appeal to the court for a transit remand that we can take Debkumar Maity to Mumbai for further investigation", a Mumbai Police official told IBNS. As per various media reports, the accused has now been arrested from Kolkata, West Bengal. Maity's statement to the police department mentioned, "I saw her on tv sitting at the pavilion during a match and fell in love..."

Man stalking Sara Tendulkar

Meanwhile, Dev Kumar Maiti's daily has claimed that he is not mentally fit.

It is still not known how the man got hold of Tendulkar's landline number. Police has also recovered a diary from Debkumar's house where he scribbled Sachin Tendulkar's daughter's name proclaiming her as his wife. A medical examination will take place to prove if that's true or not.
