Why has the 'Fire and Fury' book angered Trump so much?

Why has the 'Fire and Fury' book angered Trump so much?

He's bemoaning what he called the country's "very weak" libel laws and making the case that he's actually "really smart", as he put it, and indeed, a "very stable genius".

In the days following the release of Michael Wolff's explosive bookFire and Fury - Inside the Trump White House, former chief strategist Steve Bannon is trying to make amends to U.S. President Donald Trump and his family, Axios reports. "I went to - I had a situation where I was a very excellent student and came out and made billions and billions of dollars became one of the top business people".

Bannon, as Wolff wrote, said Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner's attendance at a previous Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer was "treasonous" and "unpatriotic".

Trump conceded that he participated in what he called a "quick interview" with the author "a long time ago" for an article.

Bannon said he still supported Trump, whose public break with his one-time strategist and use of a derisive nickname for him, "Sloppy Steve", reflected the depth of the president's anger. Bannon's former boss labeled the media executive "Sloppy Steve" and issued an official statement saying that when he "lost his job, he also lost his mind".

British Prime Minister Theresa May has dismissed concerns about Donald Trump's mental fitness, saying the US president acts in what he sees as the best interests of his country.

President Donald Trump is plainly agitated by a new book that portrays him as dysfunctional.

In the book, Bannon voiced astonishment over the meeting that Trump Jr, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Manafort attended at Trump Tower in NY with a Russian lawyer, who was said to be offering damaging information about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential candidate.

Nikki Haley, the USA ambassador to the United Nations, said that she is at the White House once a week, and "no one questions the stability of the president".

"Donald Trump, Jr.is both a patriot and a good man". Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by nearly everyone. "Some knew of Republicans that were concerned, maybe equally concerned, but whether they would act on those concerns was their worry".

Wolff reiterated his belief that it is becoming a widespread view that Trump is unfit for presidency, telling BBC Radio in an interview overnight that it's a "very clear emperor-has-no-clothes effect".

"Suddenly everywhere people are going 'oh my God, it's true, he has no clothes.' That's the background to the perception and the understanding that will finally end...this presidency".

But CIA chief Mike Pompeo told Fox News Sunday the portrayal was "pure fantasy" and policy adviser Stephen Miller told CNN Mr Trump was a "political genius". Kelly said Trump did not seem angry and on Friday night had watched a new movie, "The Greatest Showman" about legendary circus promoter P.T. Barnum, with the lawmakers.

Wolff told NBC on Sunday that "I truly do not want to say the president is a liar", but that he had indeed spoken with Trump for about three hours during and since the campaign. "I have no reason to question his mental fitness".
